Dry Needling in Kilcullen
Dry needling is a treatment technique that may help reduce muscle pain, ease tightness and improve movement. At Grá Health Physiotherapy in Kilcullen, it is provided by Chartered Physiotherapists as part of a personalised treatment and rehabilitation plan.
What is dry needling?
Dry needling involves inserting a fine, sterile, single-use needle into specific areas of muscle or soft tissue. No medication is injected. The technique may be used to target tight or sensitive areas identified during your physiotherapy assessment.
What can it help with?
Dry needling may be considered for:
-
Back, neck and shoulder pain
-
Muscle tightness or spasm
-
Sports-related muscle pain
-
Calf, hamstring or hip tightness
-
Restricted movement associated with muscular tension
Dry needling is not suitable for every person or condition. Your physiotherapist will assess your symptoms and medical history before recommending it.
What should I expect?
Your physiotherapist will explain the treatment and obtain your consent before proceeding. You may feel a brief pinprick, muscle twitch or dull ache. Mild soreness can occur afterwards and usually feels similar to post-exercise muscle soreness.
Dry needling may be combined with exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy and movement advice to address the factors contributing to your symptoms.
